There’s a door here that wasn’t there before.
I didn’t notice it at first, not until I caught it out of the corner of my eye, and even then it didn’t fully register to me.

Now, in the light of day, I find myself hovering in front of the door, watching.
I half-expected it to be a hallucination,
a corrupted fragment of my sleep-deprived mind,
but it is still here.
I feel as if that void is within me, like there’s something I’m missing. A delicate piece of me that has been carved out with precision and care, leaving me not quite whole.
